ALTERNATIVE

GD-92 Alternative is released in October of 2005 along with GD-91 Kamen Rider Tiger. Alternative is part of Masked Rider Ryuki series. Alternative is not part of the Masked Riders but an "alternate" system (clone of Masked Rider system) that was copy from Kanzaki's plan by his co-researcher. Because Alternative is created from the same system as Masked Rider, he shares some similar designs as the Masked Riders. There are actually two Alternatives, the second one is known as Alternative Zero and is the prototype version. Souchaku Henshin version of Alternative Zero is released as an exclusive figure (a mail-away from Hyper Hobby magazine).

Alternative presents a bit departure in designs from the other Masked Riders in Ryuki series. He is very attractive design with big bulb eye, nice modern color scheme of blue and black armors with nice gold highlight. The figure use the same core body as other Souchaku Henshin figure but with many newly molded parts just for this figure. The figure is about 5" and has decent articulations. Like other Kamen Rider Souchaku Henshin format, he has snap on die-cast armors and belt buckle. The legs and arms armors are snap-on type and fit snug and tight to the body. The paint job on him is very nicely done and is one of the best paint job yet from the new line-up. His chest and helmet fit well and look well proportion for Souchaku Henshin style figure. This is the first time Alternative is being offer in 5" format so it is really nice to see that Bandai put some effort into him. With Ryuki being promoted in Hong Kong and the rest of Asia in 2005, it is a great boon for collectors to get so many previously un-produced characters from Ryuki series. Along with Alternative, Bandai also release his companion monster Psychorogue as part of the Souchaku Henshin Mirror Monster EX-02 set.

Bandai released GD-92 Alternative in October of 2005. The retail price was 2000 Yen.

 

Unmasked Mode

Like other SH Riders figures, the human body underneath can look out of proportion and is solely intended for display with the "cloth" (Rider Armor) on. The core body is similar in style as the body used since the original Saint Seiya Cloth line, however for the 2004 SH line, Bandai have retooled the body to make it more modern. While the head still appears too small due to having to accommodate the mask, this removable "armor suit" however, is one of the aspect that drawn me to this line. The ability to "henshin" into the Rider form make these SH figures a lot like small version of Henshin Cyborg or the RAH costume hero.

Accessories

Alternative comes with his Sword and Alternate System cards. (The cards are small plastic chips with stickers that need to be applied)
