006 Drill-Joe

Along with the Magne Microman, Takara introduced a new series of figures called the Change Trooper to the line-up.  Change Troopers were basically transformable Microman figures along the same concept as the Micro Robot from the 1980's New Microman series.  These small figures can transform into either hover vehicles for Microman or into weapon attachments for the Magne Robotman.  There were five Change Troopers for Microman and three for the Acroyer.  Each Microman Change Troopers shared the same basic body but had different chest parts, weapons and head sculpts.  The figure came with single magnet in the left hand and in the right foot.  Change Troopers had many of the basic Microman-style such as the chrome head and back port (only 2.5 mm port instead of the usual 5 mm size).

The Change Troopers were probably sone of the most dislike figures from the new line (next to the later Micro Zen-Mine series). While the concept of mini-size Microman-like transformable figure was a good one, these figures however fail to deliver in term of quality. The figures had poor paint applications and lack the solid feel of the old Micro Robot figures. The chrome heads and overall designs were actually very appealing but these figures suffer greatly at Takara's attempt to produce inexpensive figures.
