Devilman Story

Devilman was a manga character created by Go Nagai (responsible for many of the classic 1970's design like Mazinger Z, Getter Robo etc.). Devilman was probably one of his more controversial creation. The story of Devilman revolved around Akira Fudo a young boy who was possessed by demon Amon. But because of Akira pure soul, he was able to control Amon power and used it to fight against the demons (under control of Lord Zenon) in order to save mankind. His battle let him to the ultimate showdown with Satan.

Microman 2004 came with new style figure stand. The stand features Microman "Da Vinci" style logo emboss on clear plastic with two styles of pegs  - one for the newer Microman 2004 figures and one for the vintage figures with 5mm port.

Takara released MA-09 Microman Devilman (TV Version) in July of 2004 as part of the new Microman Micro Action Series line-up. Microman Devilman was released by itself as the originally plan figure that was suppose to be release with him was cancel. (Micro Spiderman) Microman Devilman was a natural choice for Takara to make as they had previously released Devilman character done in vintage Microman style body during the Microman Replica Series run in 2002. Also Takara had reissued Henshin Cyborg Devilman. The figure was probably release in conjunction with the new live-action movie version of Devilman to be released in Japan this fall.

This version of Microman Devilman, unlike the previous Micro Devilman figures, was done to be closely resemble the TV version of Devilman character using the new versatile Microman Full Action Body. Devilman was a creation of Go Nagai and one of his most controversial creations. The character first appeared as manga (comic) in Japan in 1972 and the story and artwork, like most of Go Nagai works, was way ahead of its time. Devilman was subject of much controversies due to its ultra violence images and was one of the series cited by Japanese PTA for the need of censorship. Devilman manga was adapted into TV animation the same year (but with much milder designs and story). This Microman Micro Action version used basic Microman body with the pelvic along with lower arms and lower legs retooled. The figure was nicely molded in blue-green color (though it appeared blue in digital photo, the true color is more green). The figure overall had very nice paintjob and came with large wing pack. The wing which plug into 5mm port (standard with most Microman figures), was well design with poseable joints that allowed the wings to be pose in various position. While this release is somewhat plain, it was nice to have small Micro-size Devilman to add to the new Action Series line-up.
